The Vela Foundation was founded with the deep conviction that people thrive, physically and emotionally when they are able to access nutritious and affordable foods, obtain supportive services, and benefit from essential health research. The foundation is dedicated to providing grants in support of equitable healthy living in underserved communities.

Our Grantmaking
In 2025 The Vela Foundation distributed 29 grants totalling $585,000. Organizations wishing to be considered for a grant may submit a brief overview of the request including program focus, geographic scope, program reach and general funding needs.
